Phoenixville, PA (ContentDesk) March 31, 2006 -- Straw Hat Month marks the change over of winter hats to straw hats. Cancer Control Month highlights advances against cancer and rededicates the nation to fighting this disease. Chester County Women (CCW) is the remarkable organization that will blend both for one heck of a party on April 22, 2006 at the Coatesville Country Club.
Hats Off to Chester County Women, Lights! Camera! Action! is a celebration of CCWs 3rd anniversary. Though the food, entertainment and array of hats worn by attendees are fabulous, the feature presentation of the evening is the silent auction.
There are always a variety of items in high demand, instigating unusual, rowdy with sometimes even physical last minute outbid strategies. Among the many items up for bid are time in the studio with WMMRs Pierre Robert during his mid-day show, autographed hats from the casts of NCIS, According To Jim and Jimmy Kimmel Live! as well as one from Live With Regis and Kelly that includes a pair of VIP tickets to the show. Tiffany and Company, a new sponsor for the event, has donated a Platinum and Diamond necklace, valued at over $3000.00, for a special Treasure Chest raffle. Only one of 100 keys for sale for $50 each, will open the chest.
The Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation benefits from 100% of the auction proceeds.
Sandy Rollman died at the age of 33 from ovarian cancer, and after watching her remarkable fight, her nurse, Robin Cohen and her sister, Adriana Way, started the foundation as a tribute to her life, character and immense strength.
With 1 in 57 women contracting ovarian cancer, like Rollman, 75% of women are diagnosed at the advanced stages of the disease when there is only a 20% chance of survival. Cohen and Way decided to change these discouraging statistics by adopting a mission that promotes awareness, advocates for reliable, early diagnostic testing and more effective treatments and helps raise funds to advance research towards a cure. When ovarian cancer is detected early, before it has spread beyond the ovaries, more than 90% of women will survive longer than five years.Tickets for the event are $45, include a light buffet and desserts and one drink and can be purchased at www.chescowomen.org. The event will be held at the Coatesville Country Club on Saturday, April 22 from 7 to 11 pm..

Starch was a necessary ingredient to keep the hat up and smart looking.
